Approximately 40 km away from Tulum, Coba is located, another important Mayan archaeological site where you can find the highest pyramid of the Mayan Riviera: Nohuch Mul, with 40 meters of height. From its top you can get the best panoramic views of the área, although it is a challenge that perhaps only the intrepid ones will want to assume.
The Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, meaning “Gate of Heaven”, is a protected natural area declared World Heritage by Unesco in 1987. It has wide white beaches, small bays, and mangroves, with different types of fauna, as well as 23 archaeological sites, including Muyil and Tampak.
